About
The need for the creation of this blog arose as a result of the debate among the astronomical community about what a planet is, and the need that I felt to express my views on the issue to the widest audience possible. I have to warn you from the start that I consider the IAU definition patently absurd, and I hope to be able to explain why. There are many, many reasons, so it will take a while. I also have to warn you that the “Pluto issue” is totally secondary as far as I’m concerned, so if you’re a “Pluto-HatR” or a “Pluto-LovR” you’ll probably not be seing your thoughts reflected here. Another word of warning: I’m not an astronomer nor a planetary scientist, but I do know a thing or two about this topic and, in general, about how science and culture works, being both a writer and translator and a marine biologist. A final word of warning: English is not my mother tongue, so it’s likely that you’ll find a typo or two and some grammatical incorrections. Hopefully they won’t be many, and hopefully there will be more incorrect things in grammar than in science.
Thank you for your time and interest.
